Learning, together
Life is social, so learning should be social too.
A big part of learning is learning from more knowledgeable others.
That’s why the ‘together’ part, is so important.
Learning in a group is beneficial for children. Among other things, children develop their:
Listening, sharing, responding abilities
Negotiating skills
Resilience and emotional regulation
Confidence around children of different ages/interests
Leadership skills
Teamwork skills
Empathy
Group sessions include activities that support skills such as:
Reading and story telling
Literacy and Numeracy
Fine motor & gross motor
Social awareness
Emotional awareness
Organisation
Group sessions and the skills they develop are designed to complement your child’s other learning programs.
We are not a school
-
What we are:
We are teachers, now tutoring children
We create our own programs using the child as the starting point
We measure some things, but we know that what we value most cannot be measured
We tutor children in life skills, not just reading, writing and numeracy
We take what we need from different philosophies such as Steiner Education and Montessori Education
We focus on the whole child, taking into account their developmental level
We are all about making learning look different for every child
We learn through living and live through learning
We use play as an important part of a child’s learning.
-
What we are NOT:
We are not a school
We do not follow the Australian curriculum
We do not focus only on measurable skills
We do not expect that all children will learn through one style of teaching
We do not expect a child to perform outside of their developmental capability
We do not report on academic progress to parents
We are not responsible for a child’s academic progress
We do not restrict movement, such as sitting at desks or sitting still for long periods of time.
